Replace a 4G iPod hard drive with compact flash

I bought a 1.8″ IDE to compact flash adapter from

http://stores.ebay.com/Sintech-pc-adapter-world

and a 16GB compact flash card from

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2000070068+1053107923&name=Compact+Flash+(CF)

It took a little while for the adapter to arrive from China via Hong Kong but once I did I opened my iPod, pulled the hard drive and replaced it with the adapter and flash card.

I then connected it to my computer, allowed iTunes to restore the firmware image and had a 16GB flash based iPod. I’ll put up images showing the details soon.
